Our faculty, Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences, The University of Tokyo, will organize a workshop at Stockholm University of Sweden in coming 1st-6th September. Sweden is known as a fist country which detected abnormal amount of radioactive materials and started investigation, except USSR that is a country responsible for nuclear meltdown at Chernobyl, at the time. After that, Sweden established methods of the countermeasure for radiation exposure and have been operated. On the other hand, Japan immediately conducted monitoring radiation protection, and developed countermeasure technique after the Fukushima-Daiichi nuclear power plant accident. Now after several years have passed, we have obtained an overview of radioactive pollution. Also in Japan, for lengthy periods of time, radiation impact on natural environment and agriculture, forestry and fisheries will be expected continue, then now it’s time to marshal social actions to realize society implementation against radioactive pollution.
