食料や材料の生産を通して、人類は生物圏からいっそう多くを収奪しつつあり、自然生態系を危機に追いやっています。食料・エネルギー・環境など広範囲のテーマについて多数の著書で知られるヴァクラフ・スミル博士に、該博な知識と透徹した分析に基づくお話しを頂きます。
貴重な機会ですので、多数の学生と教職員が参加されるようお願いします。
なお講演は英語で行われます。

Vaclav Smil is the former Distinguished Professor at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada.
His interdisciplinary research has covered a vast area of energy, environment, technology, food, population, economy, history and public policies. He had also applied the interdisciplinary approach to the studies of China, USA and Japan. He has published more than 30 books and some 400 papers. In 2010, he was listed among the top 100 global thinkers by Foreign Policy magazine.
